Our brains are incredible. They, quite literally, make us who we are. Preserving the health and wellbeing of our brains should be of the utmost importance, and that’s where Neuroelectrics steps in. Neuroelectrics is just one of the many companies that work with us here at NGIN, and just like our brains, Neuroelectrics is one-of-a-kind. Our NGIN community first got a glimpse of the work behind Neuroelectrics with our show and tell lunch on January 26th, where members and staff alike were treated to complimentary pizza and a presentation by Neuroelectrics.
Neuroelectrics was founded in Barcelona five years ago by CEO Ana Maiques and president Giulio Ruffini under the goal of changing the way the world views and treats the brain. By measuring brain wave patterns (EEG) in a similar way that cardiologists would measure heart rate (EKG), Neuroelectrics aims to revolutionize the monitoring of brain health using this wireless technology. Furthermore, their device also has the capability to stimulate the brain noninvasively, which is a promising tool for treatment of certain brain disorders. With this innovative and wireless device, Neuroelectrics aims to bring the technology into the home. Through usage of their own wireless file sharing platform, better known as “The Cloud” (or “Nube” in their case), Neuroelectrics hopes to bridge the gap between doctor and patient. Neuroelectrics is currently in the process of FDA approval, of which it has already achieved the equivalent, the CE marking, in Europe. They also pride themselves in their collaborations with other companies within the Kendall/MIT area, such as Biogen, Harvard, and Massachusetts General Hospital.
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Carolina, one of the company’s research and sales analysts, to talk about what Neuroelectrics is and how working at NGIN helps the company achieve their goals. For Carolina and the Neuroelectrics team, coworking and collaboration is crucial to their success.
Carolina was very happy to tell us about Neuroelectrics’ accomplishments, including an award for their wearable brainwave monitoring cap design. Neuroelectrics was also named in Entrepreneur 360’s “Best Entrepreneurial Companies” in America list. Needless to say, Carolina is very proud of Neuroelectrics and its progress up till now. With the dawn of the new year, the future is bright for this ambitious company.
Carolina loves working with NGIN because of the support of other small businesses and start up companies that are there to coexist and work alongside each other. In addition, the location of the office in Kendall Square is ideal because of the proximity of Neuroelectrics to its collaborators and advisors in the area. Collaboration and networking is key, as well as building lasting relationships with other entrepreneurs and NGIN staff. Without the worry of having to stock office supplies and keep your employees comfortable and happy, companies “feel more established”. The complimentary snacks that NGIN offers, including yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and coffee also keeps everyone energized as they change the world through their work.
Every day at NGIN, we learn more and more about the companies that call us home. For more information about Neuroelectrics, you can find their website here. If you’d like to watch the full interview with Carolina, you can do so on NGIN’s YouTube channel here.
